Teaching Initiatives and Awards

In 2001-2003  awarded a Teaching Equipment Grant: Initiated, established and managed a Virtual Reality Lab and the 3-sided UAEU-CAVE.  Used in teaching “Architectural Design”, “Building Construction”, “Urban Design” and “History of Architecture” courses. 100000 Dirhams (27000 US$)

   

   

 

Architectural Design 1: Architectural Origami
Task:          Using one A3 sheet design an Origami.  
                  Only cutting, negative folding and positive folding is allowed.  No gluing is allowed.

Objective:   Thinking in 3D while working in 2D.

Architectural Design 1: Tent Structures 

Task:
Using different materials build a tent scale 1:20 to host an activity of your choice in one of the city parks.  

Objective:  
Learn about properties of different materials.
Learn about structural forces (tension, compression, bending, ...etc.)
Learn about space quality, scale and proportion.
Learn about photography of physical architectural models.
